all began. what terrorized many people in the region. people say it's hard to believe it's been 10 years. 10 years ago today, 55-year-old james martin was shot and killed in this week and parking lot the first in a string of deadly sniper shootings that terrorized the region. > i was a monster. if, if, -- i mean, if you look up the definition -- i mean, that's what a monster is. i was a ghoul. i was a thief. i stole people's lives. >> they killed 10 people and critically injured three more. john allen mohammed was executed in 2009. malvo, a juvenile, was sentenced to six life terms. now a decade later in an exclusive interview with the washington post, he says his remorseful. >> i am sorry, i am sorry. and it sounds -- there is no way to express -- there is no

an inch. warm temperatures this morning with cloud cover. lots of 60's. 66 at reagan national. the clouds will continue today along with the rainfall. it will not be all day long. you will need the umbrella more today compared with yesterday. you can see the system well to our south. it will stick with us into tomorrow morning. we will get into the one sector. that will bring our temperatures up the next couple days. today's forecast, cloudy, scattered showers 72-76. occasional showers tonight, 58- 68. i think we will wrap this up tomorrow morning and we will be dry through the afternoon. 80-degree temperatures to round out the week. how is traffic? >> we are seeing a lot of slow traffic. metro commuters, on the red line there are delays because of single-tracking between van ness and dupont circle.

first sight of the shooting. >> the shootings began here in this weekend parking lot. a shooting spree that lasted three weeks. the first incident starting right here, filling it typified- year-old man, shot and killed in this parking lot. this really terrified and paralyzed many people in this area. there were too concerned to go out and do everyday tasks but for the courage to restore getting gas. john allen muhammed and lee boyd malvo shot 13 people, killing 10 of them. lee boyd malvo is behind bars of virginia's state prison. 10 years later, he is speaking and one on one exclusive interview with the washington post. he says he is remorseful for his actions and says he was a monster at the time. he says he remembers each one of these shootings. talking to folks out here, they remember it like it was yesterday as well. talk to one man whose was

struggling to find work in today's economy. too many of those who are working are living packheck to paycheck trying to make falling incomes meet rising prices for food and gas. more americans are living in poverty than when president obama took office and fifteen million more are on food stamps. president obama and i both care about poor and middle-class families. the difference is my policies will make things better for them. we shouldn't measure compassion by how many people are on welfare. we should measure compassion by h how many people are able to get off welfare and get a good paying job. my plan will create twelve million new jobs over the next four years helping lift families out of poverty and strengthening the middle-class.
